Thomson Announces 2026 Signing Class

OREM, Utah — Utah Valley head softball coach Cody Thomson has announced the signings of nine future Wolverines to National Letters of Intent as part of the 2026 signing class.

The nine signees include Mackenzie Marion (Richmond, Calif. ), Sophia Tice (Chino Hills, Calif.), Kylynn Sylvester (Mesa, Ariz.), Kymber Dao (Livermore, Calif.), Hayley Brock (Fullerton, Calif.), Alexis Ruvalcaba (Visalia, Calif.), Addison Jay (Spokane, Wash.), Amy Cornelius (Placentia, Calif.), and Kennedy Jennings (West Jordan, Utah).

“I’m truly excited about this big 2026 class that we have coming in,” said Thomson. “My coaching staff and I feel like this could be one of the strongest recruiting classes ever to come into Utah Valley.”

MACKENZIE MARION 

INFIELDER | ALBANY HS | RICHMOND, CALIF. 

Marion, an infielder from Albany HS, was named first team All-League her first two seasons at AHS. Marion was also named league MVP following her sophomore 2024 season. Marion currently plays her club softball with the Suncats.

SOPHIA TICE 

UTILITY | CHINO HILLS HS | CHINO HILLS, CALIF. 

Tice, a primarily middle infielder at Chino Hills HS, has helped lead her team to three straight Baseline League titles and a berth in the D-I CIF quarterfinals this past season. Tice was named first team All-League in 2025, along with league honorable mention distinction in 2024. Tice currently plays her club softball for SoCal Athletics Richardson.

KYLYNN SYLVESTER

1B/OF | MOUNTAIN VIEW HS | MESA, ARIZ.

Sylvester, a first baseman and outfielder at Mountain View HS, is a career .405 hitter with 25 HRs, 96 RBIs, and 83 runs scored in her three seasons of prep softball. As a junior, Sylvester set her school’s single-season home run record with 18 and drove in 50 to earn second team All-State and first team All-Region honors. Sylvester currently plays her club softball for Arizona Rising, and was also a state champion in girls’ flag football.

KYMBER DAO 

CATCHER | LIVERMORE HS | LIVERMORE, CALIF.

Dao, a catcher at Livermore HS, has helped lead her team to three-straight North Coast Section championship appearances, including a title in 2025. Dao has also helped lead her team to back-to-back league titles in each of the last two seasons. She was named her team’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2025, and earned scholar athlete distinction the last two years. Dao currently plays her club softball for NorCal Rising.

HAYLEY BROCK 

OF | FULLERTON UNION HS | FULLERTON, CALIF.

Brock, an outfielder at Fullerton Union HS, is the No. 11 outfield prospect in the 2026 class according to Extra Innings Softball. Brock is a career .428 hitter at FUHS, earning first team All-League honors each of the last two seasons and being tabbed as the league MVP in 2025. Brock was also named second team All-State this past season after leading her team to the CIF quarterfinals. Brock currently plays her club softball for the Corona Angels.

ALEXIS RUVALCABA

UTILITY | EL DIAMANTE HS | VISALIA, CALIF.

Ruvalcaba, a primarily middle infielder at El Diamante HS, was named first team All-League as a junior in 2025 and was named her team’s MVP. Ruvalcaba is her team’s captain and has earned scholar-athlete distinction all three years thus far. Ruvalcaba plays her club softball for Dirtdogs Vasquez.

ADDISON JAY 

RHP/UTL | MOUNT SPOKANE HS | SPOKANE, WASH.

Jay, a right-handed pitcher at Mount Spokane HS, has amassed impressive numbers through her first three prep seasons. Jay has 513 strikeouts over her first three high school campaigns, and in 2025 posted a 1.03 ERA to go with a .560 batting average at the dish to earn league MVP honors. Mount Spokane has qualified for the Washington state tournament each of Jay’s three seasons there, including two berths in the state semifinals. Jay currently plays her club softball for USA Explosion.

AMY CORNELIUS 

UTILITY | EL DORADO HS | PLACENTIA, CALIF.

Cornelius, a primarily outfielder from El Dorado HS, earned a bronze medal with the México Junior Women’s National Team at the U-18 Softball World Cup this year, the team’s best-ever finish at that level. At the prep level, Cornelius has helped lead her team to two section playoff appearances. Cornelius has also been a star on the track for EDHS as one of the school’s top runners, qualifying for the section meet in the 100m, earning her school’s Sprinter of the Year award in 2025, and helping her team to a league title. Cornelius plays her club softball for OC Batbusters, with whom she took home third place at the Colorado Sparkler national tournament back in 2024.

KENNEDY JENNINGS

RHP | COPPER HILLS HS | WEST JORDAN, UTAH

Jennings, a pitcher at Copper Hills HS, has been a varsity starter all three years so far for the Grizzlies. The leader of the CHHS pitching staff, Jennings struck out a career-high 11 batters in a win over Bingham this past season. Jennings has played her club softball the last two seasons for USA Athletics-Embrey.
