RENO, Nev. – Utah Valley fell to Nevada, 71-42, on Monday night inside the Lawlor Events Center.
Tessa Chaney led the Wolverines (5-2) with 13 points, three rebounds, and four steals. The Wolf Pack (4-2) shot 57.4% for the game to secure the home win, with freshman Gabby Ramos scoring 20 points on 5-for-8 shooting from 3-point range.
Utah Valley was ice cold to open the game, knocking down just three shots in the first quarter while trying to keep pace with Nevada.
Halle Nelson hit a 3-pointer from the top of the key to cut the deficit to 6-3 as she finished with five points and four steals.
Kaylee Headrick added a free-throw-line jumper and a fastbreak layup following a steal to make it 6-5 in favor of the Wolf Pack. Ramos fueled a late run, and UVU trailed 16-7 after the opening frame.
The Wolverines began to find their footing in the second quarter but faced an 18-point deficit.

Kylee Mabry added a free throw—one of her five points—and Nelson scored on a layup during a 6-0 run by Utah Valley to bring the game back within 12 at 28-16. As the half wound down, a Chaney layup cut Nevada's lead to 11 before Ahrray Young hit a three as time expired to go back up 14.
Mabry opened the third quarter with a layup on an assist from Chaney to chip away at Nevada's advantage. Later in the period, Chaney added a mid-range jumper. Nevada committed 26 turnovers in the game, but only three came in the third quarter, helping the Wolf Pack pull away.
Naia Tanuvasa scored three points in the final 3:05, starting with a trip to the free-throw line before adding a fastbreak layup.
Chaney scored eight of her 13 points in the fourth quarter, going 3-for-4 from the field and hitting two free throws. UVU went 6-for-8 from the line in the period.
Anna Shreeve came off the bench and added a layup in the final two minutes.

Utah Valley will have an extended break before hosting Air Force on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 2:00 p.m. MT inside the UCCU Center. It will be one of three home games on the schedule, along with La Sierra (Dec. 16) and Idaho State (Dec. 20).
