UVU women face Idaho State in nonconference finale

OREM, Utah – Utah Valley women's basketball rounds out the nonconference portion of its schedule Saturday against Idaho State. Tipoff is set for noon MT at the UCCU Center as part of a UVU basketball doubleheader. Utah Valley men's basketball will face Bethesda at 3 p.m. MT. One ticket admits fans to both games.

Saturday's contest will air on ESPN+ with Brice Larson on the call alongside Josh Kallunki. All Utah Valley home games are scheduled to air on ESPN+. Live stats will be available at GoUVU.com/stats.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Wolverines are coming off a 97-48 win over La Sierra on Tuesday night. Utah Valley's defensive effort was relentless, forcing 50 turnovers and recording 39 steals, both school records. Naia Tanuvasa, making her first career start, broke the single-game school record for steals with nine, while adding 12 points and seven assists. KJ Carlyle, Saige Gibb, Tanuvasa, Evie Leeson, Kaylee Headrick, Tessa Chaney and Anna Shreeve all finished in double figures.
 
SCOUTING THE BENGALS
Idaho State enters the game 6-4 after defeating Cal Poly, 62-49, on Saturday in San Luis Obispo. Tasia leads the Bengals in scoring at more than 15 points per game. Piper Carlson is another key contributor, averaging 11.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per contest. Idaho State holds the advantage on the glass this season, averaging seven more rebounds per game than the Wolverines.
 
SERIES HISTORY
The Wolverines and Bengals will meet for the 20th time in the all-time series, with Idaho State holding a 14-5 advantage. The Bengals have won the last nine meetings, with Utah Valley seeking its first victory in the series since the 2013-14 season.
 
UP NEXT
Utah Valley will have a nine-day break before returning to action Monday, Dec. 29, at 7 p.m. MT / 6 p.m. PT against California Baptist in Riverside. The game will serve as the Wolverines' WAC opener as they play three games during the first week of conference action.
