Huddleston Paces Wolverines on Day One at Nick Watney Invitational

FRESNO, Calif.—Dane Huddleston carded a two-round total of 3-under-par 139 (71-68) to lead the Utah Valley men's golf team on the opening day of the Nick Watney Invitational at Sunnyside Country Club. Huddleston sits in a tie for 15th place in the 80-player field.

As a team, Utah Valley holds ninth place in the 13-team tournament after posting a two-round score of 7-over-par 575 (284-291). Host Fresno State leads the field at 15-under-par 553 (278-275).

Huddleston, ranked No. 132 nationally, recorded five birdies in each of his two rounds. After opening with an even-par 71, he followed with a 3-under-par 68 in the second round to climb the leaderboard.

Zachary Erskine is tied for 31st at 2-over-par 144 (68-76). He got off to a strong start with a 3-under-par 68 in the first round, notching five birdies, before shooting a 5-over-par 76 in round two.

Playing as an individual, Paxton Maxwell sits in a tie for 35th at 3-over-par 145 (73-72). He recorded four birdies en route to a 2-over-par 73 in the opening round, then added two more birdies while shooting a 1-over-par 72 in round two.

Clement Lepine and Ryan Seamons are both tied for 44th at 4-over-par 146. Lepine shot rounds of 72 and 74, while Seamons posted scores of 73 and 73. Lepine had a total of five birdies on the day, while Seamons recorded three birdies and 26 pars across his two rounds.

Andrew Hawk is tied for 78th after carding a two-round total of 15-over-par 157 (80-77). He tallied four birdies on the day, including three in the second round.

Utah Valley will wrap up play at the Nick Watney Invitational on Tuesday with a final round at Sunnyside Country Club. The Wolverines will tee off in a shotgun start at 9:15 a.m. (PT).
