OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University is set to compete at the 2025 WAC Indoor Track & Field Championships this week at The Podium in Spokane, Washington on Friday and Saturday, February 28-March 1.
The Wolverine women were picked to win the championship while the men were selected second in the Pre-Championship Coaches' Poll released last week. Grand Canyon's men were slated as the favorites.
Entering the championships, UVU is leading nine different events among all WAC competitors, led by two from
Quincy Bonds (60mH, 200m) and
Mo Guled (3k, 5k).
Ella Hopper (400m),
Anna Martin (5k),
Aiden Garnett (high jump),
Kelsi Oldroyd (long jump), and
Alyssa Logan (weight throw) have also posted WAC-high marks entering this week's championships.
All-time, Utah Valley has won one men's team indoor championship, winning the 2015 title in Colorado Springs with 252.5 team points. Individually, the Wolverines have secured 57 event conference championships; 35 have come from the men and 22 from the women.
Of the 22 women's titles, 15 have come from the distance, with seven coming in the 5,000, which Utah Valley has won four straight times and seven of the last eight. The women have also captured the 3,000-meter WAC title three straight years and in six of the last eight. In 2023, Everlyn Kemboi set WAC Indoor records while winning both races.
Last season, in Albuquerque,
Morgan Nokes swept both races to win WAC titles while
Neal Berkey won gold in the heptathlon and Gabe Remy won the 60-meter dash. Only Remy will be back to defend his title this season, with Berkey on an LDS mission and Nokes redshirting this season.
Aiden Garnett, who has the top high jump mark in the WAC while also setting the school record at 2.15 meters so far this season, won the WAC indoor high jump gold as a freshman in 2020 and is in search of his second title.
