UTAH VALLEY HOSTS TARLETON STATE ON SATURDAY AFTEROON IN WAC SHOWDOWN
- Utah Valley remains at home to host Tarleton State on Saturday afternoon at the UCCU Center. The Wolverines improved to a perfect 9-0 at home with a dominant 94-73 win over UT Arlington on Thursday night and look to keep their home streak alive against the Texans. Tarleton State enters Saturday's matchup at Utah Valley with a 10-14 overall record and a 5-4 mark in WAC play. The Texans are coming off a tough 91-54 loss at Seattle U on Thursday night, where they allowed a season-high 15 three-pointers. Despite the setback, Tarleton has been strong defensively this season, leading the WAC and ranking second nationally in turnovers forced per game (17.1). The Texans also rank second in the WAC in steals per game (9.9). Offensively, Tarleton is led by Bubu Benjamin, who averages 15.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game. Ethan Potter scored a career-high 22 points and pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds to lead Utah valley to a 63-60 road win over Tarleton State on March 7, 2024 at Wisdom Gym, snapping the Texans' 10-game winning streak—the second longest win streak in the nation at the time. Utah Valley trailed by as many as 13 points in the second half, 51-38, with 13:09 to play. The Texans kept the lead at 12 points, 58-46, with 9:18 to go. Drake Allen threw down a dunk that sparked a 17-2 run over the final 9:18 of the game to help lift the Wolverines to the win. Potter scored his game-high 22 points on an 8 of 18 clip from the field and a 6 of 11 mark at the free throw line. He also pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds to go along with three blocks and a steal.
