Utah Valley makes the short trip down University Parkway for the second and final game of the Crosstown Clash series against the BYU Cougars on Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. MDT.
Tuesday's game will be streamed live on ESPN+, with live stats available at UVUStats.com.
LAST TIME OUT
Utah Valley battled to take last weekend's series against the UTA Mavericks, two games to one. The Wolverines took the first and last games, 7-3 and 7-5 respectively.Â
Britney Moreno led the charge at the plate, going 6-for-12 with a homer, a double, three runs scored, and two RBIs. Moreno hit the game-winning homer in game three of the series, breaking a 5-5 tie in the sixth with a laser over the fence in left.Â
Emma Haygood pushed her season average over .400, going 4-for-8 with a double and two RBIs. Haygood has two hits in five of her last six games, hitting .625 in that span, and .548 overall in WAC games. Haygood's .406 average is fifth-best among all qualified WAC hitters.
Peyton Hall has a hit in 10 of her last 11 games, and has raised her season average by 90 points in that stretch — from .204 to .294. Hall is second on the team in WAC play with a .406 batting average in league games.Â
Bailey Marvin picked up a pair of big hits in her first home starts as a Wolverine. Marvin picked up a two-run triple in game one and blasted her first D-I homer in game three of the series.Â
SERIES HISTORY VS BYU
The Cougars took the win in game one of the season series last Tuesday in Orem, 14-0, for their 49th win in the series. In the last meeting in Provo, BYU rallied for a 9-7 walk-off win after trailing by four heading into the sixth.Â
GIBBS ON THE BRINK OF HISTORY
With her next home run, Megan Gibbs will tie the UVU career home run record at 41, which is currently held by Amanda Robinson (2011-14). Gibbs enters the week with 40 career home runs after hitting a three-run shot at Utah Tech last weekend. Gibbs came inches away from a homer against UTA, but had to settle for a double off the top of the wall.Â
ALUMNI WEEKEND ON TAP
UVU Softball will hold its second-annual alumni weekend on April 4-5 during the home series against Abilene Christian. A home run derby will be held after Friday's doubleheader, and a luncheon will be held in the UCCU Center following Saturday's game.
UP NEXT
Utah Valley will host Abilene Christian this weekend at Wolverine Softball Field for a three-game set starting with a doubleheader on Friday at 2 p.m. MDT. Saturday's series finale is scheduled for 12 p.m. MDT.
