OGDEN, Utah — Ella Hopper broke the 400-meter outdoor record as Utah Valley University competed at the Weber State Spring Classic on Friday. Matt Biggins and
Cole Johnson also wrapped up the two-day Bryan Clay Multis, setting new top 10 marks in the decathlon.
Biggins scored 6375 points and is now No. 7 in the school's record book while Johnson scored 6133 points and takes the No. 9 spot in the decathlon top 10. The duo competed at Azusa Pacific University's meet in California on Thursday and Friday.
Hopper's time of 54.01 seconds bests her previous personal record of 55.32, which was fifth in the record book. She broke Zandrea Nelson's record from 2012 and finished second in Friday's race.

Alyssa Logan, who competed unattached, took first place in the women's hammer with her best throw of 53.80 meters.
Grace Degarimore improved her discus PR and moved into a tie for fifth in UVU's Top 10 after hitting 46.85 meters.
Matthew Maclennan moved to fifth in the men's 100-meter hurdles top 10, taking fourth place in the race and finishing in 14.40 seconds.
Aubrey Tasker, who was fourth in the high jump, hit 1.69 meters and now is No. 7 in the record book.
Gavin Stafford also took over the No. 10 spot in the men's long jump, with a mark of 6.87 meters. He finished in third at the meet.
The weekend now shifts to Salt Lake City and the Utah Spring Classic on Saturday.
