Beckerman announces 7 additions to roster

OREM, Utah — Utah Valley men's soccer head coach Kyle Beckerman has announced the addition of seven Wolverines to his roster, including four freshmen and three junior college transfers. 

The incoming freshmen include Jordan Mangatal, Lewis Knecht, Riley Brooks, and Sebastian Løvendal. The transfers include Konrad Mueller, Nil Grau, and Jose Luis Martin Montealegre, all of whom come to Utah Valley from the JUCO level.

Mangatal, a 5-foot-7 midfielder from Lake Worth, Fla., played his club soccer for the prestigious South Florida Football Academy. Mangatal received four caps with the Jamaican U-17 national team. 

Knecht, a 5-foot-11 forward from American Fork, Utah, is the younger brother of fellow Wolverine Owen Knecht. Lewis' long list of accolades include being named UHSAA's Mr. Soccer in 2024, a two-time EA Nationals Best XI honoree, and Utah offensive MVP. Lewis most recently played his club soccer for Wasatch SC, with whom he won the USYS, EA, and E64 national championships. 

Brooks, a 6-foot-5 goalkeeper from Ogden, Utah, prepped at Ogden HS and plays his club soccer for La Roca FC. 

Mueller, a 6-foot midfielder from Trier, Germany, played the last two seasons at Peninsula College in Port Angeles, Wash., where he helped lead the Pirates to a pair of NWAC championships. Over his two seasons at PC, Mueller appeared in 36 games with 27 starts, scoring seven goals and adding one assist, and was named an NWAC All-Star as a sophomore. Prior to coming stateside, Mueller played for FC UNA Strassen in Luxembourg, just across the border from his hometown of Trier, as well as local club FSV Trier-Tarforst.

Grau, a 6-foot-4 striker from Girona, Spain, also spent the last two seasons at Peninsula College. With the Pirates, he was a two-time first-team NWAC honoree, netting an impressive 27 goals and 22 assists in two seasons, including 19 goals and 12 assists as a sophomore. Prior to coming stateside, Grau played for hometown La Liga club Girona FC, as well as English club Bolton Wanderers. 

Løvendal, a 6-foot-2 goalkeeper from Farum, Denmark, comes to UVU after spending the last three years with Danish Superliga side FC Nordsjælland, his hometown club. FCN currently sit fourth in their league.

Montealegre, a 6-foot-2 forward from Malaga, Spain, played the last two seasons in Arizona at Pima Community College, where he had a pair of double-digit goal-scoring campaigns. In 34 games over two seasons, Montealegre netted 23 goals with five assists. 

With these seven additions, the 2025 men's soccer roster now has 15 newcomers joining the squad. This season's team has the most international athletes in the program's 12-year history, with 10 athletes representing or having been born in seven different countries (Denmark, New Zealand, Ghana, England, Spain, Germany, and Egypt).
