SAN FRANCISCO — Three Utah Valley University distance runners were in action on Thursday at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic at San Francisco State University, with each setting new personal records.
Alex Hartshorn,
Wyatt Mortenson, and
Andrew Blackham raced in the 10,000 on the opening day of the distance carnival.
In addition to the PR performances, all three runners finished in the top 20 of the 74-competitor field, with Hartshorn and Mortenson both moving into the school's Top 10. Hartshorn, now ninth in the record book in the 10k, finished in 30:26.23, taking 15th place in the event that was split into three heats. Mortenson was right behind Hartshorn in their heat, with his time of 30:33.70 putting him at 10th in the record book and 17th at the meet. Blackham raced in heat two and bested his PR by nearly three seconds and finished 20th overall.
On Friday, UVU will have distance runners competing at both the Mike Fanelli and the Stanford Invitational. The split squad weekend will have the remainder of those competing at the UNLV Rebel ELITE in Las Vegas.
