Wolverines competing at Weber State/Utah, Multis at Bryan Clay

OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University track & field will compete at the Weber State and Utah Spring Classic this weekend while Matt Biggins and Cole Johnson are headed to the Bryan Clay Multis at Azusa Pacific.

The first half of the spring classic will be hosted by Weber State on Friday with the rest of the meet on Saturday at Utah. The multis meet begins on Thursday and will conclude on Friday in Southern California. Biggins and Johnson will compete in the decathlon in Azusa, California, which begins at 11:20 a.m. PT with the men's 100-meter dash.

At Weber State on Friday at Chick Hislop Track & Field at Stewart Stadium, the women's hammer throw will start the meet at 11 a.m. MT, with the long jump, high jump, and discus all being contested in the field. On the track, the competition will begin at 4 p.m. with the women's 100-meter hurdles.

In Salt Lake City on Saturday, the men's javelin will start at 10 a.m. with the women's 5k opening the track schedule at noon. The pole vault, triple jump, and shot put will also be contested at Utah on Saturday at the McCarthey Family Track & Field Complex

The Wolverines are coming off a weekend that saw three school records fall at the UNLV Rebel ELITE, with two coming from Quincy Bonds in the 100-meter hurdles and 100-meter dash. Porter Westerlind also set the new men's pole vault record, surpassing 5.29 meters at the meet.

The UVU men are ranked ninth in the country in the men's steeplechase squad rankings with four of the top five times in the WAC this season.

The Wolverines lead the WAC in 12 events entering this week's action: Bonds (200m and 100mH), Cameron Franklin (400m), Mo Guled (10k), Anna Martin (10k), Ella Hopper (400mH), Oakley Olson (3kS), Aiden Garnett (high jump), Grace Degarimore (shot put), Elyssa Shaw (hammer), Kelsi Oldroyd (javelin), and the men's 4x100.

Next week, Utah Valley will compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational and at Long Beach State's Pacific Coast Invitational and Beach Invitational.
