UVU’s Huddleston Ready for NCAA Regional Debut

5/11/2025 3:44:00 PM

RENO, Nevada — After a record-setting season that included five individual titles and WAC Golfer of the Year honors, Utah Valley sophomore Dane Huddleston is set to represent the Wolverines at the 2025 NCAA Men's Golf Regional, May 12–14 at Montreux Golf & Country Club in Reno, Nevada.

Huddleston earned an automatic berth to the regional by winning the WAC individual championship in a dramatic two-hole playoff at Chaparral Pines. He becomes just the fourth golfer in UVU program history to qualify for NCAA regional play, joining Mason Casper (2012, 2013), Gabe Lysen (2021), and Brady McKinlay (2023).

"Dane has been locked in all year and he's earned the right to be here," said Utah Valley head coach Chris Curran. "He's playing with a ton of confidence and has proven he can compete with the best in the country."

Huddleston will tee off at 12:04 p.m. PT (1:04 p.m. MT) on Monday in the opening round. He will play alongside Kalle Svederman of Central Arkansas and Tadgh Burke of Fairfield.

To advance to the NCAA Championship, Huddleston must finish as the lowest-scoring individual not on one of the five advancing teams in the Reno Regional. The national championship will be held May 23–28 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.

Huddleston enters regional play ranked No. 59 in the Clippd national player rankings, having climbed as high as No. 45 this spring. His five wins—at the Utah Shootout, Kapolei Invitational, Mesquite Desert Classic, Bandon Dunes Championship, and WAC Championship—broke UVU's single-season and career records for individual victories. His total also ties for the fourth-most in NCAA Division I history for a single season, joining the likes of Phil Mickelson and Corey Pavin.

The regional will be played at Montreux Golf & Country Club, a par-72, 7,550-yard Jack Nicklaus Signature Design nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. The course is known for its elevation changes, tree-lined fairways, and championship-caliber layout that previously hosted the PGA Tour's Barracuda Championship.
