Huddleston Tied for seventh as Play Suspended at NCAA Regional

5/12/2025 7:55:00 PM

RENO, Nev. — After a nearly seven-hour weather delay caused by high winds, play finally began late Monday afternoon in a shotgun start at the NCAA Reno Regional at Montreux Golf & Country Club. Utah Valley sophomore Dane Huddleston, competing as an individual, completed eight holes before play was suspended due to darkness. He currently sits at even par (E), tied for seventh on the individual leaderboard.

Huddleston began his round on hole 10 and opened strong with a birdie on the par-4 10th. He bounced back from a bogey on the par-3 11th with another birdie at the par-4 12th to reach 1-under. He followed with four straight pars before dropping a shot on the par-4 17th.

The 2024–25 WAC Golfer of the Year, Huddleston is one of five individuals competing alongside 14 teams in the 54-hole regional. The top five teams and the lowest-scoring individual not on an advancing team will qualify for the NCAA Championships, May 23–28, at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.

Round one will resume Tuesday morning, followed immediately by the second round. The final round is scheduled for Wednesday.
