PROVO, Utah — Alex Hartshorn set a pair of school records with his performance in the mile at the BYU Robison Invitational on Friday. Hartshorn and Mo Guled both raced in the men's invite 1-mile run in Provo.

Hartshorn finished seventh in the race while Guled was 12th in the highly competitive race; BYU's Carter Cutting finished the mile in 3:59.39, clocking just the fifth-ever sub-4-minute mile in the state of Utah, according to dyestat.

Hartshorn finished in 4:03.67, which converts with the altitude-adjustment to 3:58.89 in the mile, which becomes the Wolverines' first sub-4-minute mile in program history. The time also converts to 3:41.19 in the 1500, also a school record. Hartshorn, the WAC Indoor Freshman of the Year, had the previous school record in the mile after his win at the UVU Collegiate Invite in March.

Guled, who holds the school record in both the 5k and 10k, finished Friday's race in 4:07.09, which converts to 4:02.25 in the mile and 3:44.30 in the 1500. Both marks put him second behind Hartshorn in the school's top 10.

On Saturday, Utah Valley will have three participants competing at BYU: Ella Hopper will compete in the women's invite 400-meter dash, scheduled for 11:43 a.m., and Isaiah Archer and Cameron Franklin will race in the men's 400 at 11:48 a.m.
