GENEVA, Ohio – Utah Valley wrestling advanced three athletes to the semifinals at the 2025 U20 World Team Trials and U23 Freestyle Nationals on Saturday. Haiden Drury, Hudson Rogers and Kael Bennie remain in contention for a U23 national title, while Caleb Uhlenhopp is still alive for a third-place finish.
Drury went 3-0 on the day, winning his matches in a variety of ways. He opened with a 9-2 victory, followed by a technical fall in his second bout. In the quarterfinals, he edged Oregon State's Noah Tolentino, using two step-outs in the second period to secure the win and hold off a late charge. Drury will face Jager Eisch in Sunday morning's semifinal round.
Rogers also posted a 3-0 record to reach the semifinals. He dominated his first two matches with technical falls, then closed out the day with a 3-1 win over DWC's Dustin Bohren. He is set to wrestle Connor Gaynor in the semifinals.
Bennie also went 3-0 and will compete in the quarterfinals on Sunday. He outscored his opponents 30-0, recording three technical falls. His fastest win came in just 34 seconds in his opening match. He will face Minnesota's Gavin Nelson next.
Uhlenhopp advanced to the championship quarterfinals after outscoring his first three opponents 33-3. He then fell to West Virginia's Ian Bush, sending him to the consolation bracket. Uhlenhopp rebounded with a 16-6 technical fall over Daniel Sheen and will now wrestle James Conway as he seeks a third-place finish.
Overall, 14 Utah Valley wrestlers earned at least one win on Saturday, with 10 picking up multiple victories.
