LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its annual Team Academic Award, sponsored by Intent, on Monday morning. Utah Valley women's volleyball received the honor for the eighth consecutive year and the 13th time overall.

"We are honored to receive this award from the AVCA. I'm proud of the team for their hard work and dedication to academics," said UVU head coach Sam Atoa.

The Wolverines exceeded the required 3.3 GPA to be eligible for the award, finishing with a 3.66 GPA.

Utah Valley's continued dedication in the classroom led to Evalyn Chism, Lani Matavao, Avery Page, and Bella Wooden receiving Academic All-District honors from College Sports Communicators. Twelve Wolverines earned Academic All-WAC honors.

"It is very exciting to see that the record-setting, on-court successes during the 2024-25 season have extended to the classroom," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "The fact that more programs earned the Team Academic Award than ever before is evidence of how committed our coaches are when it comes to helping their players reach their goals as both students and athletes."

Abilene Christian, California Baptist, Southern Utah, and UT Arlington joined Utah Valley on the list of more than 1,450 collegiate and high school volleyball programs that earned the award.
The Wolverines are set to open their 2025 campaign Aug. 29–30 by hosting the Utah Valley Invitational, which will include Boise State, Montana, and Navy.
