OREM — Utah Valley head men's basketball coach Todd Phillips has announced the promotion of Trevor Stranger to assistant coach ahead of the 2025–26 season. Stranger has served the past two years as Director of Basketball Operations and is entering his fifth overall season on the Wolverines' staff.

"Well deserved bump for Trev," said Phillips. "He has been the backbone of our program—taking care of all the little things that have made our program successful. We have high expectations with him moving forward."

Stranger was a key part of Utah Valley's historic 2024–25 campaign that saw the Wolverines post a 25-9 record, including a dominant 15-1 mark in WAC play en route to an outright WAC regular-season title—the program's third outright and fourth overall. UVU advanced to its first-ever WAC Tournament championship game, made its third appearance in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT), and finished the year ranked No. 19 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 poll. The Wolverines also posted the first perfect home record in program history, going 12-0 at the UCCU Center.

In 2023–24, Stranger helped Utah Valley to a strong finish down the stretch, winning seven of its final nine games to close out the season 16-16 overall. The Wolverines went 11-9 in WAC play and picked up a road sweep at Tarleton State and Abilene Christian late in the year. UVU also went 4-2 against in-state opponents that season.

As a graduate assistant in 2022–23, Stranger contributed to the most successful season in program history. UVU went 28-9 overall, won the WAC outright with a 15-3 mark, and advanced to the NIT semifinals with wins at New Mexico, at Colorado, and against Cincinnati. The Wolverines led the nation in road wins (12) and earned their highest-ever finishes in both NCAA NET (No. 58) and KenPom (No. 64), finishing the season ranked No. 10 in the Mid-Major Top-25 poll.

Stranger also served as UVU's operations coordinator in 2021–22. Prior to joining Utah Valley, he was the video coordinator at Boise State during the 2020–21 season, when the Broncos went 19-9 overall and 14-6 in Mountain West play. He also spent a season as an assistant coach at the College of Idaho, where he helped guide the team to a 31-3 record and a No. 1 national ranking before the postseason was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A native of Meridian, Idaho, Stranger began his career as a team manager at Boise State and later earned a bachelor's degree in political science with a minor in business from BSU.
