Utah Valley travels to North Carolina for Weekend Matches

OREM, Utah — Utah Valley women's volleyball will travel to the East Coast this week for a pair of matches in North Carolina's Research Triangle. The Wolverines will face Duke on Friday, Sept. 12, at 4 p.m. MDT at historic Cameron Indoor Stadium, followed by a match against Coastal Carolina on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m. MDT at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh.
 
BROADCAST INFORMATION
Friday's match against Duke will stream on ACC Network Extra, available with a subscription to ESPN or through some cable providers. An ESPN+ subscription does not guarantee access. Saturday's match with Coastal Carolina will not be streamed, but live stats will be available on UVUstats.com.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Utah Valley fell in four sets to No. 22 Utah on Tuesday at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. The Wolverines took the opening set behind five kills from Avery Page and four from Alyvia Jaffa, who hit 1.000 in the frame. UVU recorded seven service aces in the match, including three in the first set from Page, Natalie Riggs, and Lani Matavao.
 
SCOUTING DUKE
The Blue Devils (2-4) dropped a match Wednesday to Mississippi State. Taylor Williams leads Duke with 82 kills and averages 3.28 per set. Maillinh Godschall has 131 digs and averages 4.85 per set for a team ranked in the top 25 nationally in the category.
 
SCOUTING COASTAL CAROLINA
Coastal Carolina (4-2) was picked third in the Sun Belt Conference East Division preseason poll. Jalyn Stout, the preseason Sun Belt Player of the Year, has 75 kills and averages 3.26 per set. The Chanticleers are among the top blocking teams in the Sun Belt, averaging 2.43 blocks per set and totaling 56 this season.
 
LEADING THE COUNTRY
Utah Valley leads the nation in total blocks and ranks No. 6 in blocks per set. Bella Wooden has a national-best 50 total blocks and ranks No. 4 in blocks per set with an average of 1.85.
 
HOMECOMING FOR WOODEN
Wooden, a Summerfield, North Carolina, native, will return to her home state this weekend. A three-year varsity standout at Northern Guilford High School in Greensboro, she recorded 253 kills and 93 total blocks over 137 sets for the Nighthawks.
 
UP NEXT
Utah Valley will close nonconference play next week with three in-state matchups: Tuesday, Sept. 16, against Utah State; Thursday, Sept. 18, at Weber State; and Saturday, Sept. 20, against No. 19 BYU at the UCCU Center.
