Scouting Utah State
Utah State (2-3-2) split last week—beating Weber State 2-1 at home before a 2-1 road loss to (RV) Texas Tech. The Aggies struck first in Lubbock through Summer Diamond (assist Tess Werts), but conceded on a corner and a 75' penalty. USU is tough at Bell Field (31-5-8 at home over the last four seasons) and returns key veterans Kaylie Chambers (top-10 in program points) and Werts (fifth all-time in assists), along with graduate goalkeeper Taylor Rath (season-opening MW Defensive Player of the Week). Head coach Manny Martins has led USU to back-to-back Mountain West titles and an NCAA berth, and the Aggies were picked to win the league this year.
Series History
Utah State leads the all-time series 7–2–0. The teams last met on Sept. 5, 2024, with USU winning 3–0 in Orem; UVU's wins came in 2006 (2–1 in Logan) and 2015 (1–0 in Orem).
Thursday's match kicks at 3 p.m. MT from Chuck & Gloria Bell Soccer Field and will stream live on the Mountain West Network.
