Utah Valley debuts at No. 18 in United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll

9/2/2025 2:24:00 PM

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Utah Valley men's soccer has entered the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll as the No. 18 team in the country, marking the first time the Wolverines have been ranked in a national poll since the 2017 season.

The Wolverines also moved up to No. 1 in the Far West region poll, which consists of teams out of the WAC and The Big West.

Utah Valley (4-0-0) has started the 2025 season with a dominating stretch of wins, shutting out every team it's faced thus far. It's the first time in program history that the Wolverines have started a season with four straight shutouts, and the team is one clean sheet away from tying the program record for the longest stretch of shutouts at any point in a season. Utah Valley is the only team in the country thus far to have started the season with four straight shutout wins.

Utah Valley's defensive prowess is an extension of the foundation built last season. Dating back to the Wolverines' win over Air Force on Oct. 20, Utah Valley has allowed just one open-play goal over its last nine matches, and two overall.

The offensive pace has matched the defensive effort to start the season, with 13 goals and 14 assists that are the best in the nation among teams that have only played Division I opponents.

Keegan Oyler leads the country in assists with four, and Isaac Emojong and Lewis Knecht rank tied for 12th in goals with three apiece. The Wolverines have already gotten goals from nine different players this season, with seven of the team's 13 goals coming from newcomers.

The No. 18 ranking is the highest any Utah Valley team has achieved since the men's soccer team was ranked No. 14 early in the 2017 campaign.

No. 18 Utah Valley returns to action on Thursday with a visit from the Sacramento State Hornets. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m. MDT, and tickets can be purchased at GoUVU.com/MSOCtix.
