Maxwell Finishes Fourth in Crowded Field at Falcon Invitational

9/22/2025 5:23:00 PM

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Paxton Maxwell closed with a 1-over-par 73 to finish fourth at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational at Eisenhower Golf Club, posting a three-round 8-under-par 208 (68-67-73).

The fourth-place finish is the best of Maxwell's young career, surpassing his fifth-place showing at last season's Utah Collegiate Shootout at Sunbrook Golf Course in St. George. The sophomore finished six shots behind individual medalist Kaelen Dulany of Northern Colorado (14 under) and tallied 16 birdies over his three rounds. The 115-player field is the second largest of Maxwell's career, trailing only the 120-player Wyoming Cowboy Classic last season.

Colby Hutchens shot a 4-over-par 76 on Monday to tie for 42nd at 2-over-par 218 (73-69-76). Isaiah Ellis carded an even-par 72 to place 80th at 6-over-par 222 (75-75-72). JJ Tomsick turned in a 2-over-par 74 to tie for 81st at 7-over-par 223 (72-77-74), and Ty Brady shot a 3-over-par 75 to tie for 98th at 11-over-par 227 (76-76-75).

As a team, Utah Valley recorded a 6-over-par 294 in the final round to finish 12th in the 23-team field at 5-over-par 869 (288-287-294).

In the Air Force Individual at the Eisenhower Silver Course, UVU's Andrew Hawk fired a 6-under-par 66 to tie for seventh at 6-under-par 210 (73-71-66), highlighted by seven birdies in Monday's round. Elliot Bond shot a 4-over-par 76 to finish 24th at 4-over-par 220 (71-73-76).

"Tough finish to what was looking quite promising," said Utah Valley head coach Chris Curran. "Pax was terrific all week, poised and aggressive, and he made a lot of birdies. As just a sophomore, he showed great maturity, but he didn't quite have the firepower over the last few holes to get over the hump today. Still, a career-best fourth in this field is a big step in his progression. We will take the positives, tighten a few things up, and be ready for Houston."

Utah Valley continues its fall slate at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, Sept. 29-30, at Westwood Golf Club in Houston, Texas.
