Monday Night Fútbol: UVU Hosts Gonzaga at UCCU Stadium

OREM — Utah Valley University women's soccer continues its homestand on Monday night, hosting Gonzaga at UCCU Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. MT, with the match broadcast live on ESPN+.

Utah Valley (2-2-1) is coming off a 3-2 win over LSU—the program's first-ever victory over an SEC opponent. Faith Webber scored twice, including the 65th-minute winner, while Taylor Nelson added her first of the season and Leah Wolf made seven saves. Earlier in the week, UVU fell 2-0 to Auburn on a ninth-minute penalty and an 80th-minute goal, despite holding a 10-7 edge in second-half shots. 

Through five matches, Ruby Hladek (3g, 3a) and Faith Webber (3g, 1a) are tied for the team lead with three goals apiece. Hladek leads UVU with three assists and nine points, while Webber paces the team with 23 total shots (nine on goal). Nixan Jackson has added a goal and an assist. Goalkeeper Leah Wolf has played every minute, totaling 30 saves with a 1.60 goals-against average and one shutout.

Scouting Gonzaga
Gonzaga (2-3-0) fell 2-0 to Air Force on Thursday despite owning edges in shots (17-10), shots on goal (7-6), corners (11-3), and possession (52%). The Zags own wins over Simon Fraser and UIC, with earlier setbacks to Utah and Washington. Junior attackers Katelyn Rigg (2g, 1a; one game-winner; 1-for-2 on PKs) and Amelia Severn (2g) pace the attack, with Shila Rasoul (1g, 1a) and playmaker Samantha Snorsky (team-high three assists) in support. Senior goalkeeper Michaela McCollum has started every match (1.20 GAA, .727 save pct., one shutout). Team-wide, GU is outshooting opponents 72–48 and holds a 36–16 edge in corners. The Bulldogs were picked third in the WCC preseason coaches' poll, with defender Makayla Werner on the Preseason All-WCC team.

Series History
Gonzaga leads the all-time series 2–1–0. Utah Valley won the most recent meeting, 3–0, on Sept. 15, 2024, in Spokane. The Bulldogs won 3–2 in Orem on Sept. 13, 2004, and 2–1 in Spokane in 2006. Monday marks the first matchup in Orem since 2004.
