Wolverines travel to SLC on Tuesday to face #22 Utah

OREM, Utah – Utah Valley women's volleyball travels north Tuesday, Sept. 9, for a 7 p.m. match against No. 22 Utah at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. The Wolverines will look to build on their 2-1 showing at the Outrigger Invitational, where they earned sweeps over San José State and St. John's.

The match will air on ESPN+ with Utah Mammoth radio broadcaster Mike Folta (play-by-play) and analyst Linda Byington on the call. Live stats will be available at UVUstats.com.
 
Last Time Out
Utah Valley finished 2-1 at the Outrigger Invitational in Manoa, Hawai'i, over the weekend. Sami Blackett and Bella Wooden earned all-tournament team honors. Blackett totaled 33 kills over the three matches, while Wooden anchored the defense at the net with 22 blocks (two solo, 20 assists). The Wolverines will aim to replicate their 2023 win over Utah, when they posted 15 blocks in a 3-1 victory in Orem over a Utes team that was receiving votes in the AVCA Top 25.
 
About the Utes
Utah, ranked No. 22 nationally, is 4-1 this season. The Utes suffered their only loss last weekend in Salt Lake City, falling to No. 10 Texas A&M, before bouncing back with a sweep of in-state rival Utah State. Preseason All-Big 12 pick Kamryn Gibaldo leads the team with 73 kills, while Emrie Moea'i has added 45 kills and a team-best 24 blocks.
 
Series History
Utah Valley earned its first-ever win over a Top 25 opponent on Sept. 4, 2009, defeating Utah in Orem. Kayli Doxey led the Wolverines with 18 kills, while Camie Manwill added 16. Chelsea Fa'alogo recorded 43 assists, and Allyce Jones tallied 22 digs in the victory.
 
In-State Rivalries Ahead
Tuesday's match against Utah begins a stretch of four in-state matchups over UVU's next six contests. The Wolverines will face Utah State, Weber State, and No. 19 BYU next weekend.
 
Up Next
Utah Valley travels east for two matches, beginning Friday, Sept. 12, at Duke inside Cameron Indoor Stadium, followed by a match against Coastal Carolina in Raleigh.
