OREM — Utah Valley returns home on Thursday night to open a three-game homestand, hosting in-state rival Southern Utah at 6 p.m. MT at the UCCU Center.
The Wolverines enter the matchup at 12-4 overall and 2-1 in Western Athletic Conference play after seeing their seven-game winning streak come to an end with an 85-68 loss at Abilene Christian on Saturday. Utah Valley remains perfect at home this season, owning a 7-0 record at the UCCU Center and riding a 19-game home winning streak that ranks as the sixth-longest active home win streak in the nation.
Utah Valley has been dominant on its home floor, averaging 90.1 points per game while holding opponents to just 60.6 points per contest. The Wolverines are shooting 54.7 percent from the field at home and outscoring opponents by an average of 29.6 points per game, while also averaging 24.0 assists, 10.0 steals, and 8.0 blocks per game inside the UCCU Center.
Despite the loss at Abilene Christian, Utah Valley shot 51.1 percent from the field and 42.1 percent from three-point range, but 22 turnovers led to 21 points for the Wildcats. Tyler Hendricks scored 15 points to lead the Wolverines, while Jackson Holcombe added 12 points and six assists.
Holcombe has emerged as one of the most complete players in the country this season and was named to the 2025–26 Lou Henson Award Watch List. The redshirt sophomore forward leads Utah Valley in scoring (16.3 ppg.), rebounding (7.2 rpg.), steals (2.25 spg.), blocked shots (1.50 bpg.), and double-doubles (five) while shooting 59.1 percent from the field.
Utah Valley also continues to earn national recognition, ranking among the nation's leaders in assists per game, blocks per game, and field goal percentage, while checking in at No. 74 in the latest NCAA NET rankings and No. 81 in the KenPom ratings.
Southern Utah enters Thursday's matchup at 4-11 overall and 0-2 in WAC play following an 86-77 loss to UT Arlington on Saturday. The Thunderbirds are still searching for their first road win of the season, owning an 0-9 record away from home.
SUU averages 76.9 points per game and is led offensively by Elijah Duval, who averages 13.1 points per contest. Jaiden Feroah anchors the Thunderbirds on the glass, pulling down a team-best 6.2 rebounds per game to go along with 11.7 points, while Isaiah Cottrell adds 9.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
Utah Valley holds a 9-7 advantage in the all-time series and has won four straight meetings against Southern Utah, including a 100-59 victory in the most recent matchup on March 1, 2025, at the UCCU Center.
