LAST TIME OUT
Utah Valley is coming off of a 2-3 opening weekend at the UTEP/NMSU Tournament. The Wolverines picked up wins over UTEP and UMass Lowell, and fell to St. Thomas, NMSU, and the Miners.

Over the course of the five games, Utah Valley scored 30 runs, the team's most on opening weekend since 2019. The Wolverines hit six homers, the second-most among WAC schools to begin the season, led by two from Bailey Marvin.

Britney Moreno led the charge, going 7-for-17 with a HR, triple, double, 5 RBIs, and 5 stolen bases. Moreno enters the week 9th in the nation in stolen bases, and is already halfway to matching her total from all of 2025 (8). Moreno is also on a 4-game hitting streak. Marvin set the tone over the first 3 games, going 5-for-9 with 2 HRs, a double, and 6 RBIs. Marvin is the first Wolverine with 6 RBIs in the first 3 games of the season since 2017.

Emma Haygood reached base in 9 of her 12 plate appearances, going 6-for-9 with a HR, 6 RBIs, and 3 walks. Angelique Mann enters the week on a 4-game hitting streak, highlighted by a WAC-leading 4 doubles that also ranks 7th in the nation.

Brooklyn Ricci showed off her arm behind the dish, throwing out 3 would-be base stealers on 4 attempts, the 4th-most in the nation on opening weekend. Amber Rodriguez showed a keen eye at the plate, drawing a team-best 5 walks to go with her 4 hits. Rodriguez also scored a team-high 6 runs on opening weekend.

As a team, the Wolverines played about as clean of a weekend defensively as possible, with just one error across five games. UVU's .992 fielding percentage ranks 10th in the country.

Utah Valley's pitching staff averaged just over a strikeout per inning over the first five games, amassing a total of 33 in 32.1 IP. Freshman Ella Miller led that charge with 15 across 12 IP in three appearances, including eight in her debut against UTEP on Feb. 6. Miller's eight strikeouts tied for the most by a UVU freshman since 2011.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
DRAKE BULLDOGS:
DU is coming off a 4-1 opening weekend and enters the Bear Down Fiesta winners of four straight. Bulldog freshman Kiley Kindelspire burst onto the scene with a team-best seven RBIs on opening weekend. Drake went 22-32 in 2025 and posted a 12-15 record in Missouri Valley play. This will be the first time the two teams meet.

ARIZONA WILDCATS: The No. 15 Wildcats are coming off a rollercoaster 3-2 weekend that featured a thrilling 11-6 comeback win over No. 3 Oklahoma and a 21-3 defeat by the same Sooners. Arizona picked up key contributions from Tayler Biehl — who hit a game-breaking grand slam in the win over OU — as well as Grace Jenkins and Sydney Stewart, all of whom had a team-high six RBIs over the opening five games. UofA went 48-13 in 2025, with a 17-7 mark in Big 12 play. This will be the first time the two schools meet on the softball diamond.

CREIGHTON BLUEJAYS: The Jays come into the week with a 2-3 record and have dropped three straight. Tara Vandewater led the offensive charge for Creighton with two homers and six RBIs on the weekend, while ace Audrey Gilman posted a 1.83 ERA over a team-high 15.1 IP. The Jays went 30-25 last season with a 15-9 mark in Big East play. The all-time series is tied at a game apiece, with Creighton winning the most recent meeting in 2018.

COASTAL CAROLINA CHANTICLEERS: One of the top mid-major programs in the country, the Chants opened the season with a 2-3 record at the Kickin' Chicken Classic. The defending Sun Belt tournament champs check in at No. 16 in this week's D1Softball Mid-Major Top 25. Delaney Keith led Coastal on opening weekend with a team-high 1.342 OPS and five RBIs.

UP NEXT
The Wolverines will return closer to home with the Rebel Classic in Las Vegas, Nev., from Feb. 19-21. Utah Valley will face Valpo and Merrimack for the first time, while renewing pleasantries with familiar foes Idaho State and UNLV. All non-UNLV games will be streamed on the Rebels' YouTube channel, while the game against the hosts will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.
