Wolverines Headed to Reno for Wolf Pack Classic

2/3/2026 1:43:00 PM

Utah Valley heads to its penultimate meet of the indoor season this week, traveling to Reno, Nevada for the Wolf Pack Classic, hosted by Nevada on Feb. 5-7.

The three-day meet will kick off on Thursday at 12 p.m. MT with the multi events. Friday and Saturday will each be a full day of action, beginning at 11 a.m. MT both days.

LAST TIME OUT
The Wolverines put up their best weekend across the board so far this season, with three new school records, a conference record, and 13 new top-10 marks.

Morgan Nokes competed individually at the John Thomas Terrier Classic in Boston and set a new conference and school record in the 5k with a time of 15:46.11. Her time surpassed eventual 2020 Olympic Silver Medalist and former Kansas City runner Courtney Frerich's time of 15:47.56, set back in 2015.

For the second time this season, Alex Hartshorn set the school record in the mile with a converted time of 3:56.79, besting his previous time by three seconds. Hartshorn is within striking distance of the conference indoor record — the second-oldest record still standing — a time of 3:55.70 set by UTEP's Wilson Waigwa in 1977.

Jennaveve Bingham put up the third record-breaking performance of the weekend with a new top time in the 600m of 1:31.80, eclipsing Alexandra Jo's record that stood since 2002.

Utah Valley showed out across the board, with at least one top 10 coming from each event group. Of the 13 top 10's and three school records, three came from the throwers, two from the jumpers, three from the sprinters, one from the hurdlers, six from mid-distance, and one from long distance.

FURNELL BEGINS OLYMPIC JOURNEY THIS WEEKEND
Utah Valley track and field alum Caleb Furnell will begin his Olympics experience this weekend in Milan, Italy with the Opening Ceremony on Friday. The ceremony will be broadcast live on NBC and Peacock at 11:40 a.m. MT, with primetime coverage starting at 7 p.m. MT. Furnell's first official action in the bobsled will not come until Feb. 21.

UP NEXT
The Wolverines head back to Pocatello, Idaho for the Mountain State Games, hosted by Idaho State at the ICCU Dome on Feb. 13-14.
