OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University is returning to the National Invitation Tournament for the second straight season and will host George Washington of the Atlantic 10 on Wednesday at 6 p.m. MT inside the UCCU Center. It will be the Wolverines' fourth appearance all-time in the NIT and comes after the the team captured its second straight WAC regular season championship.

George Washington is 18-15 overall and went 8-10 in A10 play. GW advanced to the quarterfinals of the conference tournament before falling to top-seed Saint Louis, a team that earned an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament earlier Sunday.

The winner of Wednesday's game will face the victor between New Mexico and Sam Houston, with second round games slated for March 21-22. New Mexico is one of the four No. 1 seeds in the 32-team field that is represented by 18 conferences while Utah Valley is a No. 4 seed. The top half of the 32-team field is seeded, while the bottom 16 unseeded teams were placed into the bracket by the NIT Committee as close to their area of natural interest as possible.

Quarterfinals will be held March 24 and 25 with four teams advancing to historic Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis for the semifinals. The NIT semifinals will kick off the Final Four weekend on April 2 with tipoffs at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. ET. The NIT championship will be played April 5 at 8 p.m. ET at Gainbridge Fieldhouse following the conclusion of the Division II and Division III Men's Basketball National Championships.

There are several former and future conference partners for Utah Valley in the NIT field. Former WAC members Stephen F. Austin, Seattle University, and Sam Houston are all competing as is and UC Irvine, the Big West regular season champion and future conference home for the Wolverines.
