FRESNO, Calif.—Paxton Maxwell shot a two-round even-par 142 (71-71) to lead Utah Valley University on the opening day of the The Watney Invitational at San Joaquin Country Club.

Paxton Maxwell sits tied for seventh on the 76-player leaderboard after posting matching rounds of 71. He recorded two birdies on the back nine and 14 pars in his opening round before following it up with a steady second round that featured a front-nine birdie and 16 pars.

Colby Hutchens carded a two-round 9-over-par 151 (79-72) and is tied for 54th, while JJ Tomsick sits tied for 60th at 10-over-par 152 (78-74). Ty Brady is tied for 64th after posting an 11-over-par 153 (78-75), and Andrew Hawk rounded out the scoring with a 14-over-par 156 (76-80), placing him tied for 69th.

As a team, Utah Valley sits in 12th place on the 14-team leaderboard after carding a two-round 27-over-par 595 (303-292).
