Wolverines Set for Wyoming Cowboy Classic

UPCOMING
The Utah Valley University men's golf team continues its spring season March 31-April 1 at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona. The two-day tournament features a 25-team field competing over 54 holes.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The Wyoming Cowboy Classic will be contested over two days in stroke play format. Teams will play 36 holes on Tuesday beginning with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start, followed by the final 18 holes on Wednesday. The tournament will follow a play-five, score-four format.

TOURNAMENT FIELD
The field includes Arkansas State, CSU Fullerton, CSU Northridge, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Iowa State, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, San Diego, San Francisco, South Dakota State, USC, Southern Utah, St. Mary's, UC Irvine, UNLV, South Florida, UT Arlington, UTEP, Utah State, Utah Valley, Weber State, Western Carolina, Wichita State, and host Wyoming.

COURSE INFORMATION
Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club will serve as the host venue for the Wyoming Cowboy Classic. The course will play as a par-72 layout measuring 7,330 yards. Located in Maricopa, Arizona, Southern Dunes is widely regarded as one of the top public courses in the Southwest and features desert-style terrain, firm fairways, and strategic bunkering.

LAST TIME OUT
Utah Valley last competed at the Bandon Dunes Championship at Pacific Dunes in Bandon, Oregon, where Paxton Maxwell led the Wolverines with a tie for 40th place after carding a three-round 5-over-par 218 (70-74-74).

Ty Brady finished tied for 57th at 9-over-par 222 (72-73-77), while Colby Hutchens placed tied for 71st at 12-over-par 225 (69-79-77). Hutchens recorded Utah Valley's lowest round of the tournament with a 2-under-par 69 in the opening round. Isaiah Ellis finished 81st at 14-over-par 227 (73-75-79), and Elliot Bond placed 91st with a three-round 20-over-par 233 (76-83-74).

As a team, Utah Valley finished 15th on the 15-team leaderboard with a three-round score of 35-over-par 887 (284-301-302).

LOOKING AHEAD
Following the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, Utah Valley will travel to compete at the Arkansas State Spring Invitational, April 13-14, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The tournament will serve as the Wolverines' final tune-up ahead of the 2026 WAC Men's Golf Championship, set for April 27-29 at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club in McKinney, Texas.
