OREM—Utah Valley University men's basketball head coach Todd Phillips has announced the signing of Utah State transfer Jordy Barnes to join the Wolverine program for the 2026-27 season.

A 6-foot-3, 185-pound point guard from Holladay, Utah, Barnes comes to Utah Valley after spending the past two seasons at Utah State, where he helped the Aggies win a Mountain West regular-season championship, a Mountain West Tournament title and make back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.

"I have watched Jordy play for many years. The thing that sticks out above everything is he's a winner," Phillips said. "He has won at every level. Two state titles in high school, an Adidas 3SSB AAU national championship and a Mountain West championship in college. Pumped to have him join our team. His leadership, toughness and ability to distribute the ball will make an immediate impact."

Barnes appeared in 49 games over two seasons at Utah State, totaling 78 assists and 36 steals while averaging 9.2 minutes per game. As a freshman in 2024-25, he played in 33 games and averaged 1.6 points, 2.1 assists and 0.8 rebounds per contest while totaling 35 steals. He recorded a season-best seven assists in a road win at No. 20 San Diego State and scored a season-high 11 points at Colorado State.

Prior to Utah State, Barnes starred at Olympus High School, where he established himself as one of the most accomplished prep players in Utah history. He was named the 2024 Utah 5A Player of the Year after averaging 14.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 10.5 assists and 3.6 steals per game as a senior.

A two-time first-team all-state selection and four-year starter, Barnes led Olympus to two state championships and a 76-10 record during his prep career. He finished with 934 career assists, the Utah state all-time record, while also setting Olympus High School records for career steals, career double-doubles, career triple-doubles and assists in both a game and season.
