Utah Valley to Host Utah State for Home Finale Tuesday

4/20/2026 2:23:00 PM

Utah Valley closes out the 2026 home season on Tuesday with a visit from the Utah State Aggies. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. MDT, and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+.

The Wolverines' previously scheduled game at Idaho State on Wednesday has been canceled due to inclement weather and will not be made up.

Utah Valley is looking for its second season series sweep of an in-state rival on Tuesday after taking all three from Weber State. The Wolverines took the previous two from the Aggies down in St. George at the end of February.

QUICK HITTERS
This is the first season since Utah Tech moved to D-I in 2021 that the Wolverines will have faced every in-state school at least twice in a campaign. UVU still has a game at Utah and a three-game set at SUU on the docket, and will have played 16 games versus in-state competition by the end of the season.

Utah Valley has an 8-3 record against in-state rivals this season, on pace for the team's best win percentage against Utah schools in the D-I era (previous best: 8-4, .667 in 2024).

In the previous two meetings this season against USU, six Wolverine starters hit .500 or better, with four players tied for the team lead with four hits. Angelique Mann and Tatum Hall each homered off the Aggies in St. George, while Bailey Marvin hit the gap with a team-high three doubles.

Amber Rodriguez and Marvin led the Wolverines with four RBIs apiece against the Aggies. Lily Riley pitched the bulk of the innings against USU in the previous two meetings, going 7.2 innings across two  appearances, allowing one ER and striking out 7 to earn the win in the first game and the save in the second (entered with a one-run lead in the 5th).

On Saturday against TSU, Tatum Hall hit her 10th home run of the season, the 16th double-digit home run season in program history and the 3rd by a left-handed batter, joining Heidi Stocks who hit 11 in 2007 and 10 in 2008. With her next RBI, Hall will also have the most by a left-handed batter in a single season, surpassing Stocks (2008) and Kalena Shepherd (2022), who each had 45.

SERIES HISTORY VS UTAH STATE
Utah Valley and Utah State meet for the 46th time on Tuesday. USU leads the series 29-16, and the Aggies have won nine of the last 10 in Orem dating back to 2010. The lone UVU win in that time was a walk-off comeback 3-2 win in 2022 where the Wolverines rallied for three in the 7th to win.

Utah Valley is looking for its first-ever multi-game season series sweep of the Aggies after winning the first two meetings in St. George at the end of February, 10-1 in 5 innings and 13-7. UVU's 10-1 win was just the fourth run-rule win for the Wolverines in the series. Only two of the previous 20 meetings in Orem have been run rules for either team.

UTAH'S SOFTBALL HERITAGE
Tuesday's game is a matchup of the only two collegiate softball programs in the state — JUCO or four-year — to win a national championship at any level. Utah Valley won the 2000 NJCAA national title — the school's only team championship to date — while Utah State won back-to-back AIAW national titles in 1980-81.

MORENO STARING DOWN ANOTHER TRIPLES RECORD
With her next triple, Britney Moreno will set the UVU single-season triples record. On April 11 against ACU, Moreno matched the record of 6, set by Chris Jimenez in 2005, and moved into the top 10 all-time in WAC history. On March 21 vs Utah Tech, Moreno broke UVU's D-I era triples record with the 12th of her career. Entering this week, Moreno ranks t-5th nationally with 6 triples this season, as well as t-12th among active D-I players for their career with 13.

UP NEXT
With Wednesday's game at Idaho State canceled, the Wolverines will not leave the state again until they travel to the WAC Tournament the first full week of May. Utah Valley's next game will be the team's final non-conference matchup of the regular season as the team travels to face the Utah Utes on Tuesday, April 28. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. MDT, and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
