MCKINNEY, Texas — Chloe Jang fired an even-par 72 to lead the Utah Valley University women's golf team into a share of first place after Monday's opening round of the 2026 WAC Championship at The Clubs of Stonebridge Ranch Country Club Hills Course.
Utah Valley carded a 10-over-par 298 and is tied atop the team leaderboard with Abilene Christian heading into Tuesday's second round. UT Arlington sits third at 16-over 304, followed by Tarleton State at 18-over 306.
Jang's steady round featured an even-par performance that places her second individually after 18 holes, just three shots off the lead. Maddi Kamas of Abilene Christian holds the individual lead at 3-under 69.
Valentina Zuleta also gave the Wolverines a strong start, carding a 1-over 73 to sit tied for third. Maria Ortiz added a 4-over 76 and is tied for 11th, while Pati Uluave posted a 5-over 77 to tie for 14th. Rylie Rodriguez rounded out the Utah Valley lineup with a 9-over 81.
"I'm proud of the girls today," said Utah Valley head coach Juli Erekson. "Score-wise, this is kind of the mark we always try to hit, to break that 300 mark. They did their job today, and it so happened to put us in first place. We're happy about that opportunity to play with the best teams.
"We left some shots out there, so I think we're in a great spot. We're right there in contention, and that's a good place for us. We stay a little hungry."
Utah Valley will return to the course for the second round on Tuesday. The Wolverines are scheduled to tee off beginning at 11:40 a.m. CT alongside Abilene Christian and UT Arlington.
