LAS VEGAS — Utah Valley University Assistant Athletic Director for Communications Jason Erickson has earned multiple national and district honors from College Sports Communicators (CSC), highlighted by a top-10 national finish among all NCAA Division I institutions in the organization's Creative & Digital Design Contest and two District 8 writing awards in the Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest.

The honors were announced at the 2026 CSC Unite Convention held at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, where athletics communications professionals from across the country gathered for the organization's annual conference and awards presentations.

Erickson's national recognition came in CSC's 2025-26 Creative & Digital Design Contest, where he placed seventh nationally among all NCAA Division I entries in the University Division Game Notes category for Utah Valley women's soccer's NCAA Tournament first-round match at Colorado. Competing against submissions from athletic departments across the country, Erickson's game notes ranked among the nation's top 10.

In the Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest, Erickson earned District 8 University Division Athlete Profile Winner (tie) honors for his feature story, "From Nazareth to Orem: The Journey of Joul Karram." The story chronicled the remarkable journey of Utah Valley men's basketball student-athlete Joul Karram from his hometown of Nazareth to NCAA Division I basketball at Utah Valley.

Erickson also earned District 8 University Division Historical Feature Runner-Up (tie) honors for "A New Era in Orem: The Story Behind UCCU Stadium's Rise at Utah Valley," a feature detailing the vision, planning, and construction of Utah Valley's state-of-the-art UCCU Stadium, which opened prior to the 2025 women's and men's soccer seasons.

The 2025-26 Creative & Digital Design Contest drew a record 2,565 entries from nearly 270 institutions and conference offices nationwide, while the Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest recognized the top storytelling and feature writing produced by CSC members across the country.

"I am honored to be recognized by College Sports Communicators alongside so many talented professionals from across the country," Erickson said. "These awards are really a reflection of the incredible student-athletes, coaches, and stories we have at Utah Valley. I am grateful for the opportunity to tell those stories and help showcase our university on a national stage."

Now entering his 13th year at Utah Valley and his 25th year in collegiate athletics, Erickson oversees the Wolverines' athletic communications office and broadcast services operations. He has been recognized throughout his career with numerous national, regional, and state honors, including awards for writing, storytelling, public relations, marketing, and innovative communications campaigns.

College Sports Communicators is the nation's premier professional association for athletics communicators, public relations professionals, and content creators working in collegiate athletics. Its annual writing and creative contests recognize the best work produced throughout college athletics each year.
