Chesler Finalizes 2026 Roster With 10 Additions

OREM, Utah — Utah Valley men’s soccer head coach Michael Chesler has announced the addition of 10 players to his roster ahead of the Wolverines’ inaugural season in The Big West.

Among the newcomers, nine are international players, including the program’s first-ever players from France and Norway.

Adem Arous 

Defender | Lyon, France

Indian Hills CC | AJ Auxerre

 

Arous is the most decorated of the incoming transfers after winning the 2025 NJCAA National Championship with Indian Hills CC in Iowa. Prior to coming stateside, Arous played his club soccer for Ligue 1 club AJ Auxerre in its academy.

Bismark Ayamba 

Midfielder | Kumasi, Ghana 

Daytona State

 

Ayamba appeared in 33 games with 26 starts over two seasons with the Falcons, scoring four goals and adding five assists. Ayamba earned first team All-FCSAA honors in both campaigns and finished as national runner-up to Adem Arous and Indian Hills this past season. Prior to DSC, Ayamba prepped at the Rush Premier Sports Academy in Port Saint Lucie, Fla., Ayamba has also played for USL2 clubs Brave SC and Inter Gainesville.

Shayne Byrne 

Midfielder | Birmingham, England

Shrewsbury Town FC

 

Byrne brings a wealth of academy experience to Orem, most recently at Shrewsbury Town FC and Nottingham Forest. Byrne also saw tremendous success at the high school level, winning the English Schools’ Football Association National Championship with St. Peter’s in 2020. Byrne's father, Tommy, played professionally for Leicester City, and also runs Solihull Academy FC where Shayne played most of his youth career.

Edgar Correia 

Defender | Familicão, Portugal 

Central Arkansas | S.C. Braga

 

A grad transfer by way of Central Arkansas and IU Indy, Correia has appeared in 51 games with 44 starts over his four-year collegiate career. As a freshman in 2022, Correia was named second team All-Horizon League and to the All-Freshman team. Correia is a product of the SC Braga and Benfica academies, the latter of which he played with Portuguese National Team star Antonio Silva and two-time Champions League winner João Neves

Jeremie Kuelo

Defender | Wuppertal, Germany 

Peninsula College | SV Wermelskirchen

 

One of three Peninsula College transfers on the 2026 roster, Kuelo comes to UVU after a successful two seasons at PC. Kuelo was named North Region MVP in 2024 and a league all-star in both 2024 and 2025. Before coming stateside, Kuelo most recently played for SV Wermelskirchen, just south of his hometown of Wuppertal.

Noah Moe 

Forward | Trondheim, Norway 

Peninsula College | Tangmoen IL

 

Another Peninsula College transfer, Moe comes to Orem after spending the last two seasons with the defending NWAC champions in Washington. Before coming to the U.S., Moe played for Tangmoen IL’s U19 team.

Ugo Mordi 

Forward | Brampton, Ontario, Canada 

St. Peter’s | Vaughan SC

 

Mordi set his school record for goals scored in a single season with 37, helping St. Peter’s to three straight league titles over the last three seasons and qualification to the provincial playoffs. Mordi also participated in track and basketball in high school, taking first in the 4x100 relay at the provincial level in 2024 and 2025. Mordi most recently played his club soccer for Vaughan SC.

Kai Skinlo 

Goalkeeper | Salt Lake City, Utah 

Barcelona Residency Academy

 

Skinlo was a three-time national champion at the Barca Residency Academy in Arizona, and also played overseas with Portuguese club Academica de Coimbra, who currently play in the third division of the Portuguese football pyramid.

Oliver Watts 

Midfielder | Frederiksberg, Denmark

Hellerup IK

 

Watts most recently played for Hellerup IK’s academy, and has also previously spent time with Danish giants FC Copenhagen. Watts also competed with the Danish Youth National Team at the U-15 and U-16 levels.

Luca Wingaa Laursen 

Midfielder | Kastrup, Denmark | FA 2000

 

Laursen comes to Orem after playing the last two years at Frederiksberg Alliancen 2000, who currently compete in the Danish fourth tier. Laursen also previously competed with the A27, Gunslevholm, and AB Tårnby academies.

ROSTER NOTES

  • The Wolverines will have 15 international athletes this upcoming season representing 12 different countries. This includes athletes who live in the U.S., but have competed at the youth level for another country, such as Jordan Mangatal with Jamaica.
  • This is the fourth straight season the team has broken the program record for most international student-athletes. The men’s soccer program has both the most and highest percentage of international players among all of UVU’s sports programs.
  • Positionally, Utah Valley will have four goalkeepers, five forwards, nine midfielders, and 10 defenders for a total of 28 players.
  • Utah Valley has just two players this season who are neither from Utah nor an international student, Brayden Tester and Mason Abdella. 11 of the team’s 13 American players are from Utah.
