ATLANTA — Utah Valley women's basketball was honored Tuesday with a 21st-place finish among women's college basketball programs with the highest GPAs. The mark was the highest among schools from both the Western Athletic Conference and the Big West.
 
The Wolverines finished with a combined team GPA of 3.677 during the 2025-26 school year. The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay posted the nation's top GPA at 3.965.
 
I'm so proud of our team and what they accomplished in the classroom this past season," said UVU head coach Dan Nielson. "The season is long and can make it tough to keep up academically and our team not only kept up, but they excelled. They truly represent what it means to be a student-athlete as they have been ranked in the academic top 25 and played in the postseason in back-to-back years. We're lucky to have a team culture where everyone expects each other to excel both on and off the court."
 
This past season, Utah Valley had four student-athletes earn College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, with Cambree Blackham, Saige Gibb, Kylee Mabry and Halle Nelson receiving the recognition. Amanda Barcello, Tessa Chaney, Kaylee Headrick, Anna Shreeve, Gracie Sorenson and Naia Tanuvasa earned Academic All-WAC honors during the 2025-26 season, in addition to the four who received national recognition.
 
A total of 10 Wolverines earned Academic All-WAC honors this season, combining for 14 academic awards at either the national or conference level.
 
The Wolverines earned a spot in the Top 25 for the second consecutive season after finishing No. 10 during the 2024-25 season. It marks the 11th time since 2007 that the program has received the honor, which is presented annually. UVU finished first nationally in both 2010 and 2013.
 
"The WBCA is pleased to recognize those women's basketball programs that have committed themselves to excellence on the court and in the classroom," WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew said. "The 119 ranked teams we honor this year across all five collegiate membership divisions strive to achieve all-around success, and we commend their efforts. Congratulations!"
