SPOKANE, Wash.—Utah Valley heads to the Pacific Northwest for its first true road match of the season, taking on Gonzaga on Wednesday night at Luger Field in Spokane. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT/8 p.m. MT, with the match broadcast live on the Pac-12 YouTube channel.
Utah Valley enters the match with a 3-3-1 record after dropping a 2-1 decision to San Diego State on Saturday night at UCCU Stadium. Kate Booth scored the equalizer on a 25-yard free kick in the 84th minute, but the Aztecs scored the game-winner with just 22 seconds remaining. The loss snapped UVU's three-match winning streak.
The Wolverines had won three straight before the setback, defeating No. 17/14 Kansas 2-1 before posting back-to-back shutouts over Washington State, 1-0, and New Mexico State, 4-0, at the OUTRIGGER No Ka Oi in Honolulu. UVU outscored its opponents 7-1 during the three-match stretch.
Utah Valley is ranked No. 5 in the West Region in the latest IWSOC Coaches Poll in partnership with United Soccer Coaches.
Booth leads Utah Valley with two goals and is tied with Nixan Jackson for the team lead with four points. UVU's nine goals this season have come from eight different players, with Booth the only Wolverine to score multiple goals. Freshman Sam Curtis leads the Wolverines with three assists and is tied with Josie Clawson for the team lead with 14 shots.
Freshman goalkeeper Madeleine Boucher owns a 0.73 goals-against average and an .846 save percentage through six appearances. Boucher has made 22 saves while allowing just four goals in 492:10 of action and has recorded two shutouts.
Utah Valley has outshot its opponents 94-78 through seven matches and holds a 46-24 advantage in corner kicks. The Wolverines are averaging 13.4 shots per match while limiting opponents to 11.1.
Gonzaga enters Wednesday's match with a 3-4-1 record after earning a 3-0 road victory over Creighton on Sunday. The Bulldogs have also picked up wins over South Florida and New Mexico this season while playing No. 11 Washington to a 1-1 draw.
Samantha Snorsky leads the Gonzaga attack with six goals and 14 points, while Amelia Severn has five goals and a team-high three assists for 13 points. The duo has combined to score 11 of Gonzaga's 15 goals this season. Junior goalkeeper Sydney Head has played all 720 minutes in goal for the Bulldogs and has recorded 31 saves with a .721 save percentage.
Gonzaga is led by third-year head coach Katie Benz. The Bulldogs are competing in their inaugural season as members of the Pac-12 and were picked sixth in the league's preseason coaches poll.
Utah Valley and Gonzaga are tied 2-2-0 in the all-time series, with the Wolverines winning each of the last two meetings. UVU defeated Gonzaga 5-3 last season in Orem after earning a 3-0 shutout over the Bulldogs in Spokane in 2024. Wednesday's match will be the fifth meeting between the programs and the third in Spokane.
Following Wednesday's match, Utah Valley returns home to host in-state rival Weber State on Saturday, Sept. 19 at UCCU Stadium.
