Adam Jacobsen is entering his second season as an assistant coach with the Utah Valley men’s basketball program. He joined head coach Todd Phillips’ staff ahead of the 2024–25 season after a successful tenure at California Baptist and brings over two decades of Division I coaching experience to the Wolverine bench.

In his first season at UVU, Jacobsen helped lead the Wolverines to a historic 25-9 record, a dominant 15-1 mark in WAC play, and the program’s fourth WAC regular-season title—its second outright championship. Utah Valley earned the No. 1 seed in the WAC Tournament and advanced to its first-ever WAC Tournament championship game. The Wolverines also made their third all-time appearance in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) and finished the year ranked No. 19 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 poll.

UVU excelled on both ends of the floor during the 2024–25 campaign, leading the WAC in field goal percentage (46.8%), assists per game (15.6), and rebound margin (+4.9), while also ranking among the national leaders in blocks per game (5th), defensive rebounds (25th), and total rebounds (41st). The Wolverines also made history at the UCCU Center, going 12-0 at home for the first time in program history.

Before arriving in Orem, Jacobsen spent four seasons (2019–23) as an assistant coach at California Baptist, where he helped guide the Lancers to multiple 18-plus win seasons, including a 21-win campaign in 2019–20. Under his leadership, CBU earned its first two WAC Tournament victories and regularly ranked among the nation’s top offensive teams.

Prior to his time at CBU, Jacobsen served as associate head coach at the University of Hawai’i from 2015–19. He was instrumental in leading the Rainbow Warriors to both the Big West regular season and tournament championships in 2016 and helped guide the program to its first-ever NCAA Tournament win that same season. Hawai’i also led the Big West in scoring and set a school record with 28 wins during his tenure.

Jacobsen began his coaching career with a 14-year stint at the University of the Pacific, where he served as associate head coach for two seasons. During his time at Pacific, he helped the program win five Big West titles and make four NCAA Tournament appearances.

As a player at Pacific, Jacobsen was a Big West standout and remains the program’s all-time leader in both three-pointers made and assists. He led the Tigers to two Big West Championships and was inducted into the Pacific Athletics Hall of Fame for his outstanding career.

In addition to his on-court coaching experience, Jacobsen has worked in the field of sports analytics as a senior associate at HD Intelligence (HDI), one of the premier basketball analytics companies in the country. At HDI, he collaborated with numerous Division I programs to implement data-driven strategies and enhance team performance.

Jacobsen and his wife, DeAnn, have three children: Presley, Ava, and Luke.
