Patrick Amico begins his first season as a Graduate Assistant at Utah Valley University.
"We are very fortunate to have Patrick join our program," said Utah Valley head coach Mark Pope. "He brings a wealth of experience, a 24/7 work ethic and a love for this game that is contagious. The list of coaches and players that have contacted me on his behalf is really impressive. He has been a huge asset for every program that he has been a part of and I know that he will do great things with us at UVU."
Amico joins the Utah Valley staff after coaching one of the top AAU basketball teams in the West, sending 78 student athletes to college on scholarship over ten years. Amico also helped lead Pine View High School to a state championship and region championship in 2015. Before moving to St. George in 2011, Amico work as a training coach at Impact Basketball in Las Vegas, NV working with over 100 pros each year.
“I’m so excited to learn from Coach Pope and his staff. The assistants on this staff are amazing, I truly feel that I’m working alongside four future Division one head coaches everyday. Student athletes that come play for Coach Pope are not only coming to play for an NBA veteran, a National Champion, but one of the best men in the world. I’m so blessed and excited to be a Wolverine.”
Amico graduated from Dixie State University in 2016 with a bachelor's in Mass Communications and is planning on receiving his MBA next spring from UVU.
A Las Vegas, Nevada native, Amico and his wife Jennifer have three sons, Trey, Landon, and Chase.
