Former All-WAC midfielder Alec Felix is joining the Utah Valley University men’s soccer coaching staff as the team’s volunteer assistant, head coach Greg Maas announced on Aug. 7, 2020.
Felix, a team captain this past season, was also named the male Stan Bates Award winner by the Western Athletic Conference, which honors the top male and female scholar-athletes in the WAC.
“I couldn’t be more excited to announce the addition of Alec ‘Ironman’ Felix to our men’s soccer coaching staff,” Maas said. “Alec had a distinguished, record-setting career as a Wolverine. He was recently honored as the recipient of the Stan Bates Award with the WAC, and he’ll now have the opportunity to help mentor our student-athletes both on and off of the field.”
During his four-year career, he logged more minutes than any other players in the program’s history with over 6,600 minutes on the pitch. He’s second on the career record list in both games played and games started.
Felix is a four-time Academic All-WAC and a three-time All-WAC selection during his career. He was also part of the 2016 WAC Championship team.
A native of Mapleton, Utah, where he attended Maple Mountain High School, Felix graduated from UVU in December of 2019 with his Bachelor of Science in business management.
