Jonny Broadhead is entering his third season on coach Greg Maas' coaching staff at Utah Valley University. After two seasons as the volunteer assistant, Broadhead was elevated to an assistant coach after the 2015 season.
An Orem native, Broadhead came to UVU in 2014 following a two-year stint as assistant coach at Colorado Mesa. The Mavericks went a combined 20-12-8 during his two seasons in Grand Junction, including a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament championship last season.
Following the 2013 season, Broadhead was named CMU's interim head coach in the wake of the retirement of previous head coach Josh Pittman. He held that position for two months before stepping down in February of this year.
Prior to his time with CMU, Broadhead was a four-year letterwinner as a midfielder with CSU Pueblo from 2001-04. He scored three goals and notched 13 assists in his time with the ThunderWolves. From there, he began his coaching career in 2006 with Inter FC Utah.
In 2010 he was named Assistant Director of Coaching and took over as Director of Coaching the following year. He was also an assistant coach with the Utah Olympic Development Program from 2010-12. Broadhead will serve as assistant coach on UVU's men's soccer staff.
"Coach Broadhead is a demonstrated, knowledgeable, and energetic coach who will be an invaluable resource on every level with UVU men's soccer," said UVU coach Greg Maas.
