Assistant coach Ryan Wigley recently completed his first season with the softball program at Utah Valley University.

As part of the coaching staff, Wigley helped the Wolverines clinch the the WAC Tournament title in just their first year in the league, as well as the school's first-ever trip to the NCAA postseason as UVU advanced to the Eugene Regional.

Under Wigley's instruction, Utah Valley belted a program record 51 home runs in 2014 to best the previous school mark of 49.

Wigley arrived in at Utah Valley following a year at Division II Colorado Mesa and consecutive years at Division III California Lutheran University. Wigley held the top assistant coaching role at both schools, serving as the recruiting coordinator, hitting coach, infield coach (CMU), and outfield coach (CLU).

Prior to joining the Regals at CLU, Wigley was a hitting, outfield, and catching coach at Taft Junior College where he coached four student-athletes to First Team All-Conference honors, and another who was named All-American. In 2010, he also coached his Player's Edge 18-U Elite team to a California state gold medal as a head coach, a position he held from 2008-10.

In past summers Wigley managed Players Edge, an 18-U travel team from the Granada Hills California area that won 2 of 5 tournaments they competed in. Wigley was a member of the California Baptist University baseball team for three seasons after transferring after one season at College of the Sequoias where he played baseball for one season.

At Cal Baptist, Wigley's name can be found on multiple occasions in the program's record book as he holds the top spot in career games played, walks, stolen bases, assists, on-base percentage, and sacrifice hits.

He graduated from Cal Baptist with a degree in Kinesiology. The founder of Player's Edge Elite, a baseball and softball instructional facility in Bakersfield, Calif., he also assists Mike Candrea with his Southwest Camps as a hitting coach. In 2010, Wigley founded the "Island Softball Experience", a camp located in Hawaii that currently organizes various instructional camps and clinics. In his free time,

Wigley enjoys golfing, snow skiing, and fly fishing.
