Matt Casale

Matt Casale enters his first season as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at Utah Valley University, working with wrestling, men’s soccer, softball, and golf programs. 
 
Casale arrived at UVU from Texas A&M University, directing the physical development of the women’s soccer, women’s tennis and men’s golf squads from 2020-2021.  During his time in Aggieland, his squads experienced success across the board.  Aggie Soccer won their first SEC regular-season title and progressed to the Elite Eight for the seventh time in program history, earning the United Soccer Coaches’ Southeast Region Staff of the Year.  The men’s golf squad advanced to the SEC Tournament semifinal and finished 6th in NCAA regional action after registering two tournament wins and a runner-up finish in regular season play.  The Texas A&M women’s tennis squad finished as SEC Tournament runner-up and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.
 
Prior to Texas A&M, Casale spent two years from 2018-2020 at Fresno State where began as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach and in less than 12 months, was promoted to the Director of Sport Performance overseeing all 20 Olympic Sport athletic programs.  He directly designed and implemented the sport performance programs for women’s basketball, who won their first Mountain West Conference regular season championship in school history in 2020 and softball, who finished the season ranked in the Top 25 with a 21-4 record before the season ended due to COVID-19.  Casale also assisted the soccer, volleyball, and water polo programs during his tenure. 
 
Before arriving at Fresno State, Casale coached at Brigham Young University from 2017-2018 where he led the strength and conditioning programs for track & field sprints and jumps, women’s soccer, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s swim teams.
 
In 2016, Casale completed an internship with the United States Ski and Snowboard team in Park City, Utah.  There, he assisted the strength and conditioning programs for the U.S. Mogul and Aerial national teams at the Center of Excellence.
 
Casale received his bachelor’s degree in Health and Exercise Science at Syracuse University in 2014, assisting all Olympic Sport athletic programs as a strength and conditioning intern.  In 2016, Casale completed his master’s degree in Kinesiology at Texas A&M University and was a sport science intern with the Football program.     
 
A native of Litchfield, New York, where he was born and raised on a dairy farm, Casale is certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS) and American Red Cross (First Aid/CPR/AED).
