Coaches: Throws Hector Perez is entering his second season of coaching on Scott Houle's staff in 2014. Perez comes to UVU after holding a two-year graduate assistant coaching position at his alma mater, Southern Utah University. Perez competed three years of track & field while at Southern Utah and specialized in the shot put, hammer and discus. During his senior season at SUU, Perez took first in the shot put at the Summit League Championships. Besides being an All-Summit League performer on the track, Perez also played three years of football for the Thunderbirds. Perez hails from Shafter, Calif., and is a graduate of Shafter High School.
