Dan Nielson enters his fourth season as a member of Cathy Nixon's coaching staff.
Prior to coming to UVU, Nielson spent four years as both director of operations and as a graduate assistant for the women's basketball team at Brigham Young University. During his time at BYU, the team made four NCAA Tournament appearances.
Nielson hails from Round Rock, Texas, where he was named All-District 14 two times out of Round Rock High School.
He graduated from BYU in 2006 with a degree in American Studies. During his time as a student, Nielson was a volunteer practice player and coach with the BYU women's team. He has also worked with both the men's and women's summer camps as a counselor at BYU.
In the summer of 2002, Nielson returned home to Texas and served as a volunteer coach for the boys Williamson County Texas summer league.
Nielson married Carly John in 2005 in Boston, Massachusetts. The couple has two girls: Sadie and Elise.
