Justin Hutchins enters his third year on Coach Atoa's staff. He was also on the coaching staff during the 2005 and 2006 seasons.
Hutchins, a former player for Utah Valley State's club team from 2001-2002, led the Wolverines to a club National Championship in 2001, and a third place finish at Nationals in 2002. He will help Atoa with fundamental work on both sides of the net, including scouting, recruiting, and skill analysis.
Hutchins spent 2003 as the head women's volleyball coach at Brighton High School leading the Bengals to the State Tournament in his first year. He also has eight years of coaching experience at the club level. He is currently an Assistant Director and coach for Club Utah, leading them to multiple Region Championships and the Junior Olympics. Hutchins was also the director of the Highline Volleyball Club for two years. Hutchins' Club teams finished as high as 5th, and 13th nationally during his tenure.
Before coming to Utah Valley State as a player, Hutchins spent one year at Goldenwest College and helped his team to a junior college State Runner-up finish.
A graduate of Antioch High School in Antioch, California, Hutchins was named "Most Outstanding Offensive Player," leading Antioch to a league and CIF Championship. He also attended Royal High School in Simi Valley, California and won a league championship while he was there.
Hutchins enjoys surfing, and playing beach volleyball. His younger brother, Brock played for University of Hawaii. Hutchins was married to the former Shannon Hermansen on August 12, 2005.
