Gabe Vigil is entering his second season on the wrestling coaching staff at Utah Valley State and his first season with new head coach Greg Williams.
Prior to coming to Utah Valley, Vigil spent two seasons as head coach at Hillcrest High School. While at Hillcrest, Vigil coached two state champions and eight wrestlers who placed at state.
Vigil graduated from West Jordan High School in 1998 as a three-time state champion and a High School All-American. While wrestling for head coach Larry Jaramillo at West Jordan, he compiled an impressive 126-13 record.
Following high school, Vigil went on to a successful collegiate career at Boise State University. Wrestling at 141 pounds, he beat Dana Holland of Arizona State 3-2 to win the Pac-10 Championship in 2003, helping his team to a 2nd place conference tournament finish. Vigil was also an NCAA Tournament Qualifier four times for Boise State.
Vigil completed his degree from Boise State University in 2003 with a major in History.
