Paul Gehring

Gehring joined the Utah Valley staff in the summer of 2024 after a successful stint at Long Island University. He will coach third base and serve as the recruiting coordinator.

"Paul comes to us from Long Island University, where he has been an integral part of their regional berths in 2022 and 2024.  He has a history of winning and developing relationships all over the country.  I could not think of a better person to be heading our recruiting efforts moving forward!" said UVU head coach Nate Rasmussen.

"I'm excited to be on staff with Coach Rasmussen as the Recruiting Coordinator at Utah Valley! This is going to be a great staff to work with, and there is a wealth of knowledge that gives us the opportunity to compete at a high level," said Gehring. "The administration at UVU has shown their passion for winning and has given the coaches and athletes outstanding resources to work with. The facilities and support in Orem will give the coaching staff the tools to develop athletes and put them in a position for success on and off the field."

Long Island finished the 2024 season with a 33-25 record and won the Northeast Conference. They competed in the Chapel Hill regional, where they almost upset the No. 4 national seed Tar Heels in the regional opener. In 2022, they won the Northeast Conference and finished with a 37-21 overall record.

Before Long Island, he spent nine seasons at Edmonds College in Lynnwood, Wash., where he was an associate head coach and recruiting coordinator. In his nine seasons in the Northwest, Edmonds went 256-111 and won three conference championships and one NWAC title.

His efforts helped produce numerous All-Conference honorees, two NWAC Players of the Year, and one ABCA All-American Player of the Year.

Gehring has also spent time with the Cape Cod League, where he worked with for the Wareham Gateman.

He received his bachelor's degree in education from York College in 2006 and his master's degree in Sports Administration and Leadership from Seattle University in 2011. Coach Gehring is joined in Orem by his wife, Amber.
