FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Utah Valley State women's basketball team fell to 0-4 on the season after losing to Alaska Fairbanks 69-59 on Friday evening.

Miriam Palkki led the Wolverines with 18 points, while Katie Wilson chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds.

"We missed some opportunities in the second half," said Utah Valley Coach Cathy Nixon. "We seemed to lose our focus, and Fairbanks played very well and shot the ball very well."

Utah Valley State fell behind by as many as 17 points but rallied late before falling in the first round of the Mt. McKinley Bank/North Star Invitational Tournament.   With the loss, the Wolverines will play today at 5:00pm MST against Jacksonville State, who lost to Western Carolina 75-73 on Friday.
