Tempe, Arizona - Utah Valley State wrestling coach Cody Sanderson came away pleased with how his team wrestled in at the Sun Devil Duals. Although the Wolverines lost all three dual matches to Embry-Riddle, Arizona State and Cal-State Bakersfield, Sanderson said his team wrestled hard.

"The guys wrestled really hard and the Arizona State coach said he was impressed with our team," Sanderson said. "I was much more pleased with our guys today than last Friday when we lost to Northern Colorado. The guys are making a lot of improvement."

The Wolverines were forced to wrestle short handed due to injuries and other circumstances. Diego Avalon came out of his red shirt and competed for the first time at 197.

"Diego wrestled well," Sanderson said. "I was really impressed with him. It was refreshing to watch him."

The Wolverine are back in action on Thursday when they host Portland State at the Activity Center at 7 p.m.
