OREM - The Utah Valley State wrestling team is finally getting an opportunity to wrestle on its home mat. On Friday at 7 p.m. the Wolverines host Northern Colorado at 7 p.m. in the Activity Center.
"We love wrestling in front of our home crowd," Utah Valley State coach
Cody Sanderson said. "The athletes are excited. It's going to be nice to wrestle on our own mat."
The Wolverines haven't wrestled on their own mat since Nov. 20. Since then they have been on the road at Las Vegas, Missouri and Reno.
Utah Valley wrestled at Missouri last week.
Talon Vickers posted an impressive performance by winning two of his three matches. Northern Colorado is coming into the match with a 0-3 record in dual meets. Utah Valley is 1-5. "It's going to be a very competitive match," Sanderson said. "There will be several matches that could go either way."
The two schools wrestled twice last year and with each school winning once. Following Friday's match, Utah Valley wrestles at Arizona State on Monday and then hosts Portland State on Thursday.
"That's how we like it," Sanderson said. "In dual meets it's fun to compete every week. We're ready for more intense schedule."
